In Scouting, kids can participate in activities all year long! These include den level activities for a Scout’s grade, pack level activities for the whole group, and large-scale council level activities that are put on by the larger Greater St. Louis Area Council. This list is by no means a complete list of the opportunities available to our Scouts – this is just a small sample of the things our Scouts can participate in each year!<\/p>\n
This traditional project joins parent and Scout together in building and designing a race car from a block of wood! There are kits that are made available in the late fall, along with specifications and regulations for the cars. Scouts and families have a few months to build and tinker, and then the Pack gathers as Scouts race their cars against each other!<\/p>\n
This annual food drive in November is one of the largest food drives in the nation! Scouts distribute blue bags to neighborhoods and return a week later to collect them and provide these donations to local food pantries just before the holiday season. Part of the Scouting program is to help other people, and this – along with other projects such as conservation clean ups and community outreach – help our Scouts keep a focus on service.<\/p>\n
A wide variety of camping opportunities exist for Cub Scouts! Den and Pack campouts happen a few times a year to include the whole family in the Scouting experience. In the summer, Cub Scouts have the chance to participate in the council Family Camp with parents and siblings, Day Camp and Twilight Camp that offer unique programs with community experts (including STEM, Shooting Sports, and Activities camps), and Overnight Camps where your den can grow, learn, and have fun together outdoors!<\/p>\n
Each year, thousands of Scouts from all over the St. Louis area come together at area college campuses for a full day of classes and hands-on activities in STEM subjects. These programs have adventures aimed at each rank to invite Scouts to get involved in science and technology.<\/p>\n
In late winter, the Pack gathers together to celebrate Cub Scouting’s birthday. At Blue & Gold, we gather together, eat a meal, award our oldest Scouts their Arrow of Light awards, and participate in a fun activity or presentation!<\/p>\n
On the Sunday before Memorial Day, more than 4,000 Scouts of all ages gather at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetary to do a good turn. After a flag ceremony and parade march, the gathered Scouts decorate all 150,000 graves at the cemetary with an American flag to honor our veterans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
